Collaborating once again with Molonglo Group, DesignOffice were approached to design an exciting culinary destination on the ground floor of NewActon Pavilion in Canberra.

Destroyed by fire in 2011, the charred shell of the anchor tenancy provides a dramatic backdrop to new interior elements. The ground floor bakery is defined by a complementary palette of bluestone, galvanised steel and leather, its open kitchen flanking a galvanised steel stairway to the underground bar. Here, dark interiors and selective lighting create an ambience distinct from the bakery above, complete with a rolled steel bar and canopy lined in red Alicante marble.
