Higher Ground

Robust and refined interiors to elevate the experience of all-day dining in Melbourne.

A former CBD power station’s expansive industrial shell forms a characterful backdrop for Higher Ground’s contemporary interior.

The design segments the generous singular volume into elevated tiers; six interconnected levels which create an internal topography. This spatial plan ensures diverse vantage points and seating options for diners, while supporting an efficient flow for staff operations. An intimate mezzanine above features a softly-lit informal lounge and communal table. The venue’s sharp geometry is defined by a rich material palette of cork, terrazzo, painted steel, stone, black fibre board and solid timbers, softened by plants and tactile furnishings.

Higher Ground’s multifunctional design enables round-the-clock service, with an easy sophistication in line with its hospitality offering.
