Little Bean Roasters

Little Bean’s riverside venue in Pudong, Shanghai is a complete brand experience. Featuring a coffee shop, bakery, roastery and coffee academy, the multifaceted offering requires seamless function and continuity.

Within the existing two-storey building, the clients sought a bright, welcoming environment for visitors to linger and learn about premium coffee. The design responds to the building’s radial footprint, with curved counters in cast concrete and timber. A connection between floors is introduced through suspended mirrors, and two large circular apertures punched into the slab between, lined with trailing plants.

Further to the design of this site, Platform by DesignOffice focusing on Brands in Built Form®, has developed a comprehensive design manual for Little Bean to apply to future sites across China.
