23Albert is a five-room boutique in Freshwater, on Sydney’s northern beaches, showcasing a hand-picked range of apparel, accessories and homewares.

The brief called for the creation of a relaxed, effortless and comfortable retail environment allowing for flexibility in curation and inviting exploration and discovery. The rooms were stripped back to simple volumetric forms and painted in subtly gradated tones responding to the natural light and architectural features. Within these spaces, a suite of hand-crafted timber joinery pieces, metallic cuboid forms and free-standing screens were placed to create a tactile family of elements responding to the brief.

A palette of American oak, grey glass, marble, concrete, stainless steel and brass was softened with layers of fabric and abundant indoor planting. Vintage furniture and lighting was sourced from Melbourne and Sydney to complete the relaxed residential ambience.
