The Commons Health Club

The Commons Health Club is a new offering from the established workspace brand that brings together performance, recovery and connection.

More Information Less Information

The Commons Health Club, Richmond is conceived as a complete health ecosystem; including a full-service gym, yoga and pilates studios, and a subterranean bathhouse. This health focused amenity is underpinned by The Commons member-first and community focused philosophy supporting these facilities with a cafe, juice bar and member’s lounge, animating the street and acting as the arrival hub.

The Richmond club is the first expression of this brand, occupying 2,500sqm across the ground floor and basement of a new commercial development in Melbourne’s inner east.

The entry level connects the cafe and reception with a raised members lounge and 3 studios. A new staircase extends the health club below and connects to the workspace above. The central lower ground concierge point anchors the adjacent change rooms, gym floor and bathhouse with subtle changes in level defining an intuitive relationship between them.

A palette of cork, blonde timber and concrete forms a tactile base, while curved forms and softly modulated transitions bring clarity and calm. Departing from the subdued and gendered tones typical of wellness spaces, the design introduces accents of saturated colour to create warmth and character.
