Space Furniture’s relocation to an 800 square metre site in Fortitude Valley offered an opportunity to reintroduce their Brisbane showroom to the local community of design professionals and residential customers.
The architectural response was to reskin the existing building facade. This perforated metal screen creates a confident contemporary identity for Space, acting as a datum which brings greater focus to store windows. Beyond a green marble entrance, new lightwells adorned with trailing plants bring vitality to the space. Distributed across one expansive level, visitors are invited to circulate changing vignettes of internationally renowned furniture.
Following the success of this project, DesignOffice was engaged to develop Space Furniture’s flagship Melbourne showroom.
