A convergence of diverse cultural influences in a contemporary classic space.
More Information Less InformationRestaurateurs Saori and Kazuki approached DesignOffice to re-imagine their fine dining experience, which relocated from regional Daylesford to Melbourne in 2018.
The brief for their city restaurant called for a welcoming, contemplative environment for patrons, grounded in the traditions of Japanese design and hospitality. This is achieved through tactile materiality, sensitive lighting and layered acoustic treatments. Interiors are imbued with soft grey tones accented by Japanese elm, granite, leathers and charred timber. Carpets and rugs in saturated hues bring added depth to the space.
The furniture and lighting selection at Kazuki’s is curated with the intent to showcase both Japanese and Australian design.
